Clare Crawley Says She's Trying to Come Back From a "Dark Place" Following Dale Moss Split - Cosmopolitan

To say the past year for Clare Crawley was a rollercoaster would be an understatement. The former (short-lived) Bachelorette went on the reality dating show to find love, only to leave prematurely with an engagement ring on her finger and a new fiancé on her arm. Yep, Clare and Dale Moss became the love story heard 'round Bachelor Nation that left some people swooning and others scratching their heads.

Sadly, their relationship didn't last, and they each posted news of their split earlier this month on Instagram. Now, Clare's taking to Instagram again. Except, this time she's detailing how she's doing since the breakup. In a recent Instagram Live, she said, “I think when you open yourself up to share what you’re going through, not as a victim but as, like, vulnerability and more as just, like, the human side of you, with your friends, with your family, with the public, with people, as much as you want to share—mine more so happens to be a lot more public than most people—but I think when we share our struggles, it gives people the opportunity to relate to it and to share their struggles."

She continued, "I’m getting to the point now where I’m trying really hard to come back from that and make a U-turn because it’s a dark place to be in when you’ve got a lot of stuff compiled on each other... My idea of love and to be loved is to have all of our things that we go through, all the stuff that we experienced in life, whether it’s whatever you want to call it, like, baggage, experience, traumas, whatever we go through."

Clare encouraged her followers who are also going through difficult times, to keep going and revealed that she's practicing having a spirit of gratitude in her life. She continued, "You are loved and you will be loved by the right person for all that you bring to the table, whether it's the good, the bad, everything that we bring to the table, the right person is going to love you for that."

You love all the nitty-gritty deets on Bachelor Nation. So do we. Let's over-analyze them together. ✔️

Kourtney Kardashians new flame Travis Barker confesses to having feelings for Kim - The News International

Kourtney Kardashian's new flame Travis Barker had a crush on his sister, Kim Kardashian

Kourtney Kardashian is dating Travis Barker and has finally moved on from Scott Disick.

However, before things heated up between the two, Barker had a crush on Kourtney's sister, Kim Kardashian.

Barker had earlier told Us Weekly in 2015, “How could you not stare at Kim? Mind you, I enjoyed hanging out with Paris, but I love curvy girls … Kim was eye candy. I was in no way disrespectful to Paris, but I couldn’t keep my eyes off Kim!”

However, Barker’s relationship with the makeup mogul was strictly platonic.

“I had a crush on her, and we were flirtatious, but nothing ever happened … We would go out to eat, just hang out,” the musician explained. “She was so kind and polite, I just felt like being a perfect gentleman around her. It was a trip!”

Apple just paid a record $25 million to buy a Sundance movie - Engadget

Apple hasn’t been shy about spending lots of money to make TV+ a success, and that’s true even in an era when it can’t negotiate deals in person. Deadline and Variety report that Apple has bought Siân Heder’s coming-of-age tale CODA (“Children of Deaf Adults”) at the Sundance Film Festival for roughly $25 million — the largest-ever deal at the event. The previous record-setter was Hulu’s Palm Springs, which sold for $22.5 million in 2020.

The movie centers on a high school senior (Locke and Key’s Emilia Jones) who’s the only hearing person in her fishing-centric family. She has to choose between supporting her deaf family (played by deaf actors) and its traditions or chasing her dreams of a career in music.

The purchase reportedly came about through a bidding war with Amazon. The Prime Video operator was eager to buy CODA, Variety said, but might not have had the room to release the title in 2021 given an already-packed lineup. Netflix had also shown interest at one point.

This isn’t a completely unexpected deal. Heder is an executive producer for Apple’s Little America, and has received awards and nominations for directing and writing projects ranging from her short film Mother to Netflix’s Orange is the New Black. Her first feature-length movie, Tallulah, premiered at Sundance 2016 and reached Netflix. She’s not only at home with streaming movies, but could produce a critical success.

That last part may be crucial. Although Apple TV+ started winning awards relatively quickly, the service has so far been shut out of some of the biggest prizes, including the Golden Globes and Oscars. While Apple might not have to wait long when titles like Sofia Coppola’s On the Rocks are considered strong candidates, a purchase like CODA increases the odds of picking up statuettes. Major awards could increase the profile of Apple TV+ and help it compete against rivals that already have prestigious movies in their lineups.

Apple Lands ‘CODA’ For $25M Record Setting WW Deal; First Major Virtual 2021 Sundance Film Festival Sale - Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: In the first big deal of the 2021 virtual Sundance Film Festival, Apple has landed worldwide rights to CODA, for a number just north of $25 million. That sets a new a Sundance acquisitions record — above the $22.5 million that Palm Springs received last year from Hulu/Neon. But this time, all the premiere watching and all night auctioning was done far from the slopes of Park City. It came down to a pitched battle between Apple and Amazon.

Writer-director Siân Heder’s coming-of-age drama is about a high school senior who is the only hearing person in her deaf family and is torn between holding together that unit or seeking her own dreams. The film premiered opening night in the U.S. Dramatic Competition. Buyers loved it, and it became clear yesterday that its value to distributors was heading into the stratosphere, after receiving glowing reviews and reaction from buyers. Multiple offers were on the table and brought the bidding close to Palm Springs territory. That was the Andy Samberg-Cristin Milioti movie that broke the Sundance sales record last year with $22.5 million.

The film (the title’s acronym is for Child of Deaf Adults) centers on Ruby (Emilia Jones), the only hearing person in her deaf family. When the family’s fishing business is threatened, she finds herself torn between pursuing her love of music and her fear of abandoning her parents. The pic is based on the award-winning French hit La famille belier. Jones is a real discovery and the film is a bonafide crowd pleaser with heart and awards potential. Heder has captured the fishing scene in Boston, and the love of classic Motown and Joni Mitchell and Marvin Gaye, whose songs are broken down and connect you to the messages within them, and why they resonate with the characters navigating difficult circumstances. Most importantly, it creates a real way into the world of a mother, father and son who were born deaf, and when the film transports the audience to how these deaf characters experience the world without sound, and try to appreciate the bright singing talent of a cherished daughter they can’t hear, the results are what they build Best Picture candidates out of. Numerous buyers discussed the film with me yesterday and were saddened when the numbers shot past what they could spend as it became clear this would be a world rights deal with a streamer.

Deal was led for Apple by heads of Worldwide Video Zack Van Amburg & Jamie Erlicht, who last year reeled in the Sundance docu Boys State, which is in the Oscar race right now. It becomes the latest statement-making deal for Apple, which at last virtual Cannes broke the record there for the Antoine Fuqua-Will Smith runaway slave drama Emancipation in a record pre-buy.

Said Deadline’s Pete Hammond in his review after CODA‘s premiere last night: “It hits you right in the heart, not only as a moving story of what it means to be in a family, but also one about becoming your own person and following a dream.”

Eugenio Derbez, Marlee Matlin and Ferdia Walsh-Peelo also star. Fabrice Gianfermi,, The Pathe film was produced by Philippe Rousselet, and Patrick Wachsberger produced the film with Jerome Seydoux, and exec produced by Ardavan Safaee, Sarah Borch-Jacobsen, and co-produced by Hester Hargett-Aupetit, Ged Dickersin, Marie De Cenival, and Eric Jehelmann, Stephane Celerier, and Valerie Garcia.

The auction was brokered by CAA Media Finance and ICM Partners and Pathe.

All this bodes well for other hot titles in the festival, with the Rebecca Hall-directed Passing premiering today.

Jared Leto Knows Why Hollywood Doesn’t Make Them Like ‘The Little Things’ Anymore - Yahoo Entertainment

“The Little Things” is a throwback to the serial killer movies of the 1990s like “Se7en” and “The Silence of the Lambs,” the kinds of morally complicated, mid-budget, adult entertainments that Hollywood doesn’t make anymore. Jared Leto, who plays the film’s spooky villain opposite detectives Denzel Washington and Rami Malek, talked to IndieWire about why that’s the case.

“It comes down to a financial decision by the studios,” said Leto. “They think they can just make so much more money with the bigger event movies. They found that for television, if they can do something that’s episodic, then people still enjoy those kinds of stories. I’m not saying they should stop making movies like ‘The Little Things,’ but I do think if you talk about like [the HBO show] ‘The Undoing,’ people like to spend more time with those characters. And there’s less stigma going back and forth from television to film.”

More from IndieWire

“The Little Things” is one of the 17 Warner Bros. 2021 titles going day-and-date on HBO Max and in available theaters. It exists in the weird COVID-era gray area of visual storytelling in which movies meant for massive theatrical bows can now be enjoyed from home alongside TV episodes.

In writer-director John Lee Hancock’s film, Leto is Albert Sparma, a creepy introvert who may or may not be a killer of women, and he’s being stalked by Washington and Malek playing two broken-down cops with demons of their own. It’s the sort of ambitious crime story that, in the 21st century, you’d expect to see on TV.

“Who would have thought five or 10 years ago, we would’ve thought people would just want to watch shorter forms of content. The opposite is true. People do enjoy a TikTok, but they also enjoy being connected and committed for eight to 10 episodes,” Leto said. But he’s also hoping that the pandemic’s shutdown of theaters reinvigorates moviegoing.

“Maybe we’ll see post-COVID that people have a desire to watch different types of films, but my point [isn’t] that they should all just be comic-book movies, but the studios look at the size of the budgets and what compels people to get into the theater and what’s worth their time and energy, and it probably makes more sense to spend $200 million and make a billion than it is to spend $30 million and make $80 [million]. I’m not saying that’s my business plan. It’s just maybe their business plan,” he said.

Leto has plenty of experience with big-budget movies, providing his demented twist on the Joker for DC in 2016’s “Suicide Squad” — which he’ll reprise briefly in the upcoming Snyder Cut of “Justice League” on HBO Max — and starring in the upcoming “Morbius” for Marvel. That film, Sony Pictures’ third swing in the MCU, recently bumped to January 2022 when a March opening became impossible.

Until then, “The Little Things” should satisfy Leto fans with a distinctly, well, very Leto performance. His Sparma has long, slick, and stringy hair, dead eyes, an unwavering brow, a voice barely above a library whisper, and a way of sauntering that almost looks like levitation. He also taunts his adversaries with a sick sense of humor. Or, as Leto suggests, a great guy: “I found him to be quite charming and have a wild, fun sense of humor,” he said.

“I was attracted by the opportunity to do something that was transformative, not just psychological or emotional but a physical one as well,” said Leto, who’s reinvented in many of his roles, including his Oscar-winning turn as a trans woman with HIV for “Dallas Buyers Club.” Let’s not forget his infamous cornrows for David Fincher’s 2002 “Panic Room,” or his immersive role as a spiraling-out junkie in Darren Aronofsky’s “Requiem for a Dream.” (He will reteam with Aronofsky on Blumhouse project “Adrift.”)

For “The Little Things,” he said, “I had a different color eyes, different nose, different teeth, other prosthetics, there was a walk and a talk. The voice was something that was very important. He’s a very hypnotic person in a strange way. He’s comfortable in his skin, but other people are uncomfortable around him. He doesn’t fit into society so neatly. He lives in the darker shadows.”

His “Morbius” character was similarly physically demanding, as the superhero he plays, Michael Morbius, has a rare blood disease that ultimately causes vampirism. “My character has a rare disease that only 900 people in the world have, and I tried to educate myself as best as possible. I go from playing somebody who’s very sick and dying to someone who’s very healthy and strong, and paints something that’s monstrous. I have these three different degrees. There was a big physical commitment to the role.”

Leto said that such performances are not easily washed off at the end of the day.

“You have weeks or months where you’re reading FBI transcripts, you’re watching all kinds of footage, consuming a lot of material,” he said. If you make any physical commitment, like a walk or a talk or a diet, if you do it for enough hours in the day, you’re going to have residual from that. I’ve played some intense characters, and it’s safe to say they always get under my skin.”

“The Little Things” begins streaming on HBO Max Friday, January 29.

Rowland revealed in an interview last fall that she and Weatherspoon had been contemplating having another child for a while, but didn’t commit to family planning until quarantine began.

"We had been talking about it loosely, and then COVID happened, and we were just like, ‘Let’s see what happens,’" the Destiny’s Child star told Women’s Health magazine. She added that she got pregnant quickly after she started trying for a second child.

Despite her gratitude, the singer told the outlet that she was hesitant to disclose her pregnancy amid the pandemic, racial injustice, political unrest and a tumultuous year for many.
